AZP History

Back in 2000, when the USDM WRX landed on our shores as the 2001 WRX, we started helping out friends and friends of friends who were members of I-Club, a message board.  Back then, most of the Subaru enthusiasts in the Tri-State knew each other since the community was so small.    Adam, Zephyr and Paisan started AZP on the streets of Staten Island at Paisan’s parent’s house holding “install fests” on the weekends and slowly branched out to mobile service for customers at their homes and businesses.

In 2001, one of our customers asked us to work on his WRX at his shop in NJ, in an empty bay that his business wasn’t using.   We found our way to Kenilworth and the far back bay on the right side of the gravel parking lot.   After completing the work on Tom’s WRX, we asked if the space was for lease/rent, sure enough it was.   We then moved AZP’s operations to that spot and we’ve been resident at the complex in Kenilworth ever since.   The facilities have grown in size and equipment over the years but the same homey feel has not left.

We now occupy almost the entire left side building in the complex with state of the art Hunter equipment including the Hawkeye Elite aligner, Hunter Road Force Elite Balancer and Hunter Touchless Tire Mounter.  Two 2-post lifts and a Rotary 4-post aligner lift.  We also have Snap-on diagnostic and TPMS computers that come in handy for keeping your vehicles humming at top performance.

Our passion for maintenance, repair and upgrades is fueled by our love of road racing.   From our inception we’ve always tested out any parts we sell or recommend on our own vehicles in the harshest of conditions on the track.  That’s how our tag-line evolved into “Race Tested, Enthusiast Approved”.  Our philosophy is also that of an evolutionary building up of your vehicle, rather than a revolutionary one.   If an OEM part needs replacing, we’ll often suggest an upgraded part that can be integrated into an overall upgrade route down the line.   We also will attempt to group together maintenance and upgrades that make sense to do at the same time due to overlapping labor or work in a similar part of the car.

Don’t hesitate to reach out to Mike Paisan directly if you have any comments or questions.   Our general Sales E-mail is the quickest and easiest way to reach us but we understand sometimes a higher level is needed.
